The Wolf for Congress campaign became a converging point of American culture and politics. It was a movement designed to get the attention of the public and to challenge the national conversation regarding politics, campaigns and candidates.
We gained international attention for boldly supporting gun control, publicly using cannabis and advertising in ways never before attempted in politics. Clearly, our campaign was successful.
The fifth district of Illinois is one of the youngest and most progressive in the nation. We attended festivals, markets, and held weekly meetings. We opened our office and our ideas to anyone and everyone. We were honest and we were kind. We asked not for money, but merely for your time and active participation in the democratic process. We simply asked everyone to vote.
Being a candidate for the United States Congress has been the most interesting, challenging and rewarding endeavors of my life. Over the course of this campaign, I have spoken to tens of thousands of families, oftentimes while knocking on their doors or meeting them at local community gatherings. We showed up, we listened and we outworked our opponents.
From here, I will probably go overseas and volunteer for a year or two. I have earned some time away, to reflect, to think and to write. I could not possibly forget to thank my campaign staff for the long hours and the cold days. We did something special. Our campaign changed national politics forever. We made a true impact on American culture and government.
We made history.
To the donors, volunteers, and voters: your support was always noticed and appreciated. Your vote is the largest honor of my life.
Thank you
